PHP/MySQL ... but... > If you do, are you satisfied with how many tables >you are using to store data in terms of the time it takes to access >records using queries? Yes. But you don't know how much time the data it takes to access the data! You can only see how much time it takes to display the web page. Depending on where you were, the pictures may not have been local, they may have been retrieved from another server in real-time. Plus the records are much bigger than yours, as they contain textual information about hotels and apartments, plus information about where to find the pictures. Plus they are searched by a numeric "city" field... > >About how many records do you have? About 10,000. > This may help me with making my >decision; that is if you can give me a practical "real world" >scenario that will give me something to compare my project to. It shouldn't help at all, it is so different. And I *hate* the user interface, it is not easy to find what you are looking for - I will definitely do something about that next week... <G> And the server is not very fast, either, so I am told. Closer is Fourwood, where you can search for various specified "yes and no" fields - but there are still so many other variables involved, with again, about 10,000 records, all much bigger than yours, and some pictures fetched from another server. I would expect this to be slower than yours. http://www.fourwood.com/foursale/search.php The SQL command is created on the following page, with the actual SELECT being done on the third page, where the properties are displayed. It's on the same server. -- Pete Clark http://www.hotcosta.com http://www.spanishholidaybookings.com ------------------------ Yahoo! Groups Sponsor --------------------~--> Get Bzzzy!
