Another idea... You can go with a simplification.
Just put a div with a looping gif and set it's style to "display:none;".
Then add to your submit button:
onclick="document.getElementById('yourdivid').style.display='block';"
This will show your gif until all files are uploaded. Not quite what you
wanted but it just works. Tiago
