What I do when I need to test some parts is that I create a
unique manual.xml.in before the configure process with only
those entitys I need, and then replace my local copy of
manual.xml.in with that. Then as I run configure and make,
it takes significantly less time. This of course generates
files unsuitable to replace with files generated in a
previous normal configure and make process. This is only
ok for testing purposes.

We already talked about a dream system, with change detection,
which only generates HTML files with changed content, but it
is quite complicated as previous and next links and various
and LOT pages need to be considered, so one change in one
XML file may have effects on many output HTML files...
