Well, if this is true, manual is not quite precise in this issue. I can
fix it in CVS, but I will feel quite strange if I will do this change
myself. 

So if you feel that this should be corrected, there is draft of new

To the best of our knowledge, the first book dedicated to PHP was 'PHP -
tvorba interaktivních internetových aplikací' - a Czech book published
in 1999, authored by Jirka Kosek. Next month followed a German book
authored by Egon Schmid, Christian Cartus and Richard Blume.

I also red following section about journal publications concerning PHP.
There is mentioned that first known article obout PHP in hard-copy
magazine is from end of 1998. I wrote series of articles concerning
various web server scripting technologies to Czech version of
Computerworld during 1998. Most of articles were focused especialy on
PHP. First article with introduction to PHP was out somewhen in spring,
most probaly in April 1998. It is also available online at
