I'm too busy to go look back at those old conversations, so flame me if you must..

However, in my opinion, we'd need a "responsible party" to review manual builds anyway 
-- we can't inherently trust all of our "spare" machines.

Was there a good reason to not consolidate the built manuals in a third location (not 
"live"), and have a responsible person move them "online" after human verification?

This wouldn't require extra rsync accounts. (it would however, require other 
infrastructure)
