Ooh, after finding scripts/xml_proto.php and giving it a shot I really wish I had seen it in the PHP Doc HOWTO -- that would have saved me plenty of grief.
At this point I think I'll delete what's in CVS and replace it with the output of xml_proto.php (adding the guts of each existing reference topic that you and Jakub have already cleaned up into the skeleton produced by xml_proto.php). For something as fundamental as PDO I would much rather have a clean start for the documentation than be forced to continue with last night's well-intentioned but wrong-headed attempt.
