 Updated by: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
-Summary: update php-src INSTALL files
Reported By: fumanchu at amor dot org
-Status: Open
+Status: Bogus
 Bug Type: Documentation problem
 Operating System: Win2k
 PHP Version: 4.3.10
 New Comment:

This bug is bogus. If it were to remain open (every time a word is
changed in the install section), it would remain open for an eternity.
The INSTALL docs are updated before every release.

here they are: http://testes.aborla.net/install-docs.zip

INSTALL -> php-src/INSTALL

Sorry. Rasmus had changed the FAQ. For some reason I thought he'd sent
a patch.

Excuse my inaccuracy.

The piece of text that refers to the FAQ was changed to:

We do not recommend using a threaded MPM in production
with Apache2. Use the prefork MPM instead, or use
Apache1. For information on why, read the following

And the FAQ title to:

 Why shouldn't I use Apache2 with a threaded MPM in a
 production environment?

See these diffs:

http://cvs.php.net/diff.php/phpdoc/en/language-snippets.ent?r1=1.125&r2=1.126
http://cvs.php.net/diff.php/phpdoc/en/faq/installation.xml?r1=1.40&r2=1.41

This bug report is due to an "old" install.txt compared to a new PHP
Manual build. So, this bug is officially bogus although it's
understandable why it was opened.

If someone feels the script that generates install.txt from the doc
sources should include links then open a new bug report as that's a
different issue.

I changed this FAQ entry. The install.txt file also needs to be
changed, though.

The Apache2 threading FUD is what the INSTALL file is referring to, and
this is located at:

http://us2.php.net/manual/en/faq.installation.php#faq.installation.apache2

It appears someone got lazy and converted text to INSTALL, without
preserving links -- this problem appears in more than one place.
