From: neothermic at neothermic dot com Operating system: Irrelevent PHP version: Irrelevant PHP Bug Type: Documentation problem Bug description: strtotime is unclear on date format
Description: ------------ On the strtotime man page ( http://www.php.net/strtotime ), the function is indicated as assuming the date is 'English date format'. This is unclear in the sense that the function actually works in US date format, not UK date format (which is an interperation of the word English). In the phpdoc channel, it was suggested that the word 'English' either be elaborated, or outright replaced with 'US English' to avoid any future confusion. Reproduce code: --------------- <?PHP $input = '20/04/05'; $date = strtotime($input); echo date('r', $date); ?> Expected result: ---------------- Wed, 20 Apr 2005 00:00:00 +0100 Actual result: -------------- Fri, 4 Aug 2006 00:00:00 +0100 -- Edit bug report at http://bugs.php.net/?id=33105&edit=1 -- Try a CVS snapshot (php4): http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=33105&r=trysnapshot4 Try a CVS snapshot (php5.0): http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=33105&r=trysnapshot50 Try a CVS snapshot (php5.1): http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=33105&r=trysnapshot51 Fixed in CVS: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=33105&r=fixedcvs Fixed in release: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=33105&r=alreadyfixed Need backtrace: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=33105&r=needtrace Need Reproduce Script: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=33105&r=needscript Try newer version: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=33105&r=oldversion Not developer issue: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=33105&r=support Expected behavior: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=33105&r=notwrong Not enough info: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=33105&r=notenoughinfo Submitted twice: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=33105&r=submittedtwice register_globals: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=33105&r=globals PHP 3 support discontinued: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=33105&r=php3 Daylight Savings: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=33105&r=dst IIS Stability: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=33105&r=isapi Install GNU Sed: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=33105&r=gnused Floating point limitations: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=33105&r=float No Zend Extensions: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=33105&r=nozend MySQL Configuration Error: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=33105&r=mysqlcfg
