First it is always a good idea to keep including the phpdoc list in the recipient list, if you have general questions, so that the questions and answers get archived. A simple reply-all will do. Second we have a documentation howto which outlines how to contribute, but unless you are serious, and would like to contribute on a larger scale, it is probably too much a hassle to install and get familiar with all the tools. The most simple way is to add user notes, if you have simple additions, or to submit bug reports (at bugs.php.net categorized as documentation problems) if you find errors, or if you have additional information.
