From: a at b dot c dot de Operating system: PHP version: Irrelevant PHP Bug Type: Documentation problem Bug description: Inappropriate abbreviation for stat() page
Description: ------------ The comment at the bottom of Table 1 on the stat() manual page reads "* - only valid on systems supporting the st_blksize type--other systems (i.e. Windows) return -1." As written it says that Windows is the _only_ system that doesn't have st_blksize. If Windows was only supposed to be an example of such a system, the abbreviation should be "e.g." (exempli gratia - offered as an example), not "i.e." (id est - that is). So, _is_ Windows the only system that doesn't have a blk_size type, or was that only intended as an EGsample? Okay, so it's a pet peeve of mine, but it does change the meaning of what is written. Ranks up there with confusion between "its" and "it's". -- Edit bug report at http://bugs.php.net/?id=36120&edit=1 -- Try a CVS snapshot (PHP 4.4): http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=36120&r=trysnapshot44 Try a CVS snapshot (PHP 5.1): http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=36120&r=trysnapshot51 Try a CVS snapshot (PHP 6.0): http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=36120&r=trysnapshot60 Fixed in CVS: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=36120&r=fixedcvs Fixed in release: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=36120&r=alreadyfixed Need backtrace: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=36120&r=needtrace Need Reproduce Script: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=36120&r=needscript Try newer version: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=36120&r=oldversion Not developer issue: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=36120&r=support Expected behavior: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=36120&r=notwrong Not enough info: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=36120&r=notenoughinfo Submitted twice: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=36120&r=submittedtwice register_globals: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=36120&r=globals PHP 3 support discontinued: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=36120&r=php3 Daylight Savings: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=36120&r=dst IIS Stability: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=36120&r=isapi Install GNU Sed: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=36120&r=gnused Floating point limitations: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=36120&r=float No Zend Extensions: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=36120&r=nozend MySQL Configuration Error: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=36120&r=mysqlcfg
