That is slightly confusing, even for a native English speaker. I'll rewrite it. It just means that it uses the list following that sentence on the page to find the default timezone. If the first item fails, it moves to the next. And so forth until it either finds the timezone, or defaults to UTC. That list is in order of preference to the function. -- </Daniel P.
