you can change the folder names via phpgw's folder management or any IMAP client. however, it is possible that "INBOX" has special meaning to the imap server and can't be changed.

That is true, I can rename the IMAP mail folders to something suitable. I find it far better if the foldernames (which is the case with INBOX) are named through translation. One cannot expect the mayority of users to be able to open their homedir e.g. with ftp and change the foldernames.
