Unfortunate, "it does not work"... really doesnt give anybody ideas as 
to what the problem might be. You might like to be more specific as to 
why it doesnt work, or what you are expecting and what you are getting.

I have just put your host attribute into a creation and modification 
template, and it works for me as expected.

You can see it in action on the demo server 
(http://wurley.demo.phpldapadmin.info/php5-SANDPIT), and use the "Test 
Template: Account (host)".
