Zaar,
SASL is likely broken in PLA 1.2 - those instructions are for PLA 1.1
and there was a big re-write in the backend for 1.2.
There are some outstanding patches to be applied 1.2 which are SASL
related, which may fix the SASL functions.
If you get SASL working, feed back to the list what is required (with
any required patches) and I'll add that work to the base repository. It
would be nice if the documentation is updated as well... :)
