I'm trying to figure out how to make it easy for people to create/edit
the SamabSID field. If there isn't a SambaSID already, it should pick
the next available value, otherwise leave it alone. I've looked at
the example here:
http://phpldapadmin.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php/TemplatesContributed:SUSESambaGroupMapping

But while that works for new accounts, you can't use that when editing
an account because it'll keep tacking on the new %sidsuffix% value.
Of course, sometimes our edits are adding the Samba objectClass
information for an existing account which uses the modify template so
I need a way to detect if there is already a value defined for that
field and handle it accordingly.

Does anyone have any suggestions how to do that?

Thanks,
Aaron
