Hi list,

from the reference:

The name of a symbol is stored as a number at the end of the tail. It
contains the characters of the name in UTF-8 encoding, using between
one and three 8-bit-bytes per character. The first byte of the first
character is stored in the lowest 8 bits of the number.

where is this used in particular? i have searched for it in the code
(is this doName()) but i can't figure out:

1) why a symbol needs a name (isn't this the one in the
internal/transient hash already?)
2) when and how a symbol name is used

maybe this is also the Nsym of wl.java?

i know i'm asking a lot of questions but i really want to understand
picolisp from all aspects that i'm capable of understanding.

thank you.

/e
