Looks like this was not a good idea ;) Besides the fact that the creation of such large amounts of internal symbols significantly increases memory and time requirements (if the grid is large), it is too easy to cause conflicts with existing symbols. For example, in tests Mike made, we found out that it eventually uses 'if2' as a grid node. However, 'if2' is a built-in function. In a similar way, the chances are high that many other symbols will clash too, (unless namespaces are used, also discussed in this thread).
