IMO, $Id$ is handy for exports, but not all that critical in a wc
where you can get the version of the file anyway.

In SVN, you can actually see what the file looks like in the
repository (i.e. no keyword expansion, no EOL conversion etc) by
examining the file ".svn/text-base/FILE.svn-base".
