Hello Janos, ah okay, that looks definitely for a reason. I think it's good to know that the min_prefix_len should be 6 signs.
for further releases: if an asterisk was entered in search filed u can add a hint to red bar showing "no results" like "no results - for asterisk search use minimum 6 letters" so all users, and not only admin or devs knows how it works ;-) Cheers Janos!! I drink a beer of the fastest responding dev i know :D Am 24.08.2013 um 20:56 schrieb Janos SUTO <[email protected]>: > > Hello Christian, > > I'm glad that you could figure out how fix sphinx. > > On 2013-08-24 20:41, Christian Vielhauer wrote: >> Hi ! >> Now, all my mails are available in WebUi *HAPPY* i have a question to >> the query behavior. >> I have a lot of mails containing the subject and/or body containing >> "coffieblack" and "titanschwarz" >> when i write the full word to the searchbar i get all mails, >> but when i write "coffie" or "titan" to the searchbar i get "no results" >> is there a way to search for that, too ? >> Strange behavior i found is the following: >> search for coffie = no results >> search for titan = no results >> search for titanschwarz = 4 >> search for coffieblack = 4 >> search for coffie* = 4 !!!!! >> serch for titan* = no results !!!!! >> why i can use asterisk by coffie*, but not by titan* ? >> the 4 mails are always the same, equal of search for titanschwarz or >> coffieblack > > I guess, because it's set in sphinx.conf to 6, look at the min_prefix_len > parameter. > However if you really need to get results for titan* then you have to reindex > emails > again. > > Janos >
