Hello Janos.

I couldn't find anywhere the whole explanation how mailpiler works. Could
you please explain it?

I understand following (if I am wrong please correct me):

- mailpiler service (piler) listens on port 25 and receives
communication from mail servers

- the e-mail is stored encrypted in /var/piler/store

- the e-mail is reindexed by sphinx search engine

- the web gui is presented for user by web server (e.g. apache,
nginx.)

I don't understand what it is database engine (mysql/mariadb) used for. How
are the emails encrypted? By piler service or by database engine? Is the
piler.key used for the encryption? Where is the index stored?

Michal
