That was said when 8 meg was a *lot* of memory. Back when ersatz emacs
ran in ~32K of ram, no problem. What's funny is that a full-blown,
modern emacs isn't a lot bigger than that, and is smaller than the
"stripped down" version of Netscape.

If you port all of emacs, you get your choice of which vi emulator to
run, so you can skip that step.
