You may try the `pedit' family of shareware text editors by Paul Nevai:

pedit provides support for both ordinary Memo Pad memos and so called
"pedit32" memos. The latter can be up to 32K in size and are stored in a
database--Memo32DB.pdb--whose format is exactly the same as that of Memo
Pad, except for the maximum size of memos. pedit can also import/export
documents in Doc format.
Jesse Jacobsen has written MemoCircus, a set of free Python tools for
accessing the Memo32DB.pdb database downloaded from the device (for example
with pilot-link):

Note that this is not a conduit because it works on a copy of Memo32DB.pdb
stored on a desktop PC. But Jesse plans to provide a full conduit in a
future release, possibly using Pyrite.
Some time ago a patch for making pilot-link's memos tool work with
Memo32DB.pdb was posted to this list:

As for improvements and new features, Paul actively works on pedit (version
1.0 was released on February 1, 2000; the latest version is 5.12) and
provides very good support. An active user community gathers around the
Peditors Forum.
