Could be interesting to connect celery Tasks with signals.
By defining __call__ in your task you could register the task with the
signal directly.
def __call__(self, *args, **kws):
self.apply_async(args=args, kwargs=kws)
Does show the benefit of using signals in the pinax apps, it becomes
easy to hook in new logic besides just sending notifications.
