Hello:

I'm going to be a phantom pin-holer for a while...I have this need to
understand things technically pretty well before I experiment, so I can
evaluate relative failures! (Engineering background does that to you).

My suggestion is aimed at improving the readability of the digest form of
the list.

I belong to some other lists, and some have some rules/guidelines that have
developed out of readability issues and apparently some Internet users
(wireless?) and in Europe pay for the amount of data they receive.

Suggestion #1: When responding to someone else's message (creating a
"thread"), delete any message content you don't absolutely need to
re-forward. Otherwise, it gets sent again and again and again...my first
digest had 9 messages but was 18 pages printed out. Some messages had been
forwarded 3 or 4 times (>>>> before text). Doing this will cut alot of
clutter, improve readability and save some trees.

Suggestion #2: If you are a regular email list participant, make sure your
email software has it's forwarding set for plain text rather than HTML. HTML
makes for pretty stationery and formatting in email, but it's horrible in
listserver email lists. Sorry to pick on list member Joel, because his name
appears in a message at the beginning of the digest volume 381, but an
example of what I'm talking about follows below...all the 'garbage
characters' are html-formatted text being partially digested (gross, isn't
it?) by the list processor.

Example of forwarded HTML-formatted text passed thru list processor.

When you exhibit your pinhole (or any other) photographs at a gallery,
etc....what rules apply to needing written releases from people and property
owners?

If anyone needs me to explain how to set up IE, Netscape Messenger or Opera
browsers to clean up their email, or find it tedious to delete huge portions
of a message and want a tip to make it easier, please email me.

If there is a consensus that it would be a good idea for me to explain any
of this on-list, let me know.

(Almost) lastly, so my message has some pinhole-related content, I am
reading pinhole theory and looking at different camera results in
anticipation of converting an old Kodak SLR with a very slow shutter by
replacing the lens with a pinhole.

Lastly, at last, what is meant by 'optimal' hole pinhole diameter? What
happens when one strays from 'optimal'?

Thanks all - further posts will be less computer and more camera.
