I second this. After seeing the work the Pitivi team has done at the Open Video Conference, I can say I haven't been more excited about a FOSS video editor. I did a couple classes today teaching college students to edit with iMovie and Movie Maker. Just a nightmare dealing with codecs that dont import. It will be a dream if we could all use the same video editor that imported any codec.
