Hard question to answer, but nobody answered I'll give it a shot. I
can't really speak for the devs that will make the decisions of which
candidates are accepted, but I'll say that it depends on many factors:
- the quality of your gsoc application; do come around on IRC to discuss
your ideas and see what needs clarification etc!
- the quality of the other students' applications
- the number of available slots

I mean, it can help if you've been involved with pitivi before in the
sense that it can demonstrate persistence and familiarity with the code,
but it's not a strict requirement--actually, if you can demonstrate that
you know the task that is ahead of you and that your goal is to join the
project in the long term, that can be a compelling argument!
