Meri,
Just wanted you and everyone else to know I've read this book.  I think I originally saw on this site about the book?? Not sure but think so.

I highly recommend it also.  There is a lot of info in it some pertained to me some didn't, but the parts that did really helped me see some things in a different light.  I especially found helpful the part about how to handle oneself during a doctor appt.

My appts were getting more and more less productive because the doctors seemed condescending to me and sometimes out right mean.  I know it wasn't all me because my husband witnessed doctors totally dismissing me and almost being to the point of rude.  He was shocked.  But after a year of doctors appts. my husband started pointing out to me that I was bringing an attitude to the appt. Being defensive. I thought well who wouldn't!  What I learned from the book was how self defeating this attitude was.    I learned I can only control what type of information and attitude I bring to the appt.  Sometimes maybe I would have gotten further with a doctor sometimes not.  But it really made me think about how I have to change my attitude.

Anyway it's a really good book.  I also recommended it to my daughter who has MS.  She's been yelled at for using a handicap space.  Sometimes you can't "see" her muscle weakness.  She can be paralyzed one week and walking the next but she still doesn't have great endurance.  But, she can't explain to everyone who looks at her funny why she's using the handicap space.  I want her to be able to just ignore the looks and just go on with her life doing what she has to like parking close to a building.

Lisa
