Dear Big Apple Chick

I had a non-secreting tumor that was ove 1.5 cm. My tumor grew large enough that it caused my prolactino to go intot the 80's. I found out that prolactin can supress your immune system. I was very tired from the elevated prolactin and I was frequently sick and had constant sinus type symptoms. I am not surprised to hear you are having these problems. I do not know if your doctors will acknowledge that your tumor is causing your problems either directly or indirectly. Do you know how large your tumor is. I was also given a trial of dostinex. Some people respond to it and others do not. If you do not tolerate dostinex, there are other medications they can take. Your treatment wil also depend on how large your tumor is and if it is causing any other hormone changes. I ultimately had to have surgery for my tumor and unfortunately that has not left me with a good cure either. However, since the surgery, my prolactin has been in a normal range and I do not get sick any longer. I still have sinus symptoms but not as bad as before the surgery. I also still suffer from fatigue, headaches and vertigo.
