Hi Chasity, I am glad to hear that you are seeing a better endo. You should probably see a Cushings specialist. I hope you decide to consult with Dr. Jho. There are several Cushings patients on http://boards.cushings-interactive.com/invboard/ that have had surgery with Dr. Jho and really like him. I am from TN, but my sister and her family live in Pitts. I saw Dr Jho's clinic when my niece was born @ Allegheny last spring. The best test to check your cortisol levels (to test for Cushings/Addisons) is the 24 hour urine free cortisol. It is best to do several 24 UFCs to give more accurate results of your cortisol levels. As I said, it's kinda gross, but you'll get used to it. Have you had cortisol and ACTH blood tests done? If so, what have your levels been in comparison to the normal ranges? Random blood cortisol does not give an accurate result of your cortisol levels. Some doctors order midnight blood draws, which are more accurate than random blood draws. You can also test cortisol pretty accurately with saliva tests, though they are not used as much as the 24 UFC. I encourage you to learn as much as you can about Cushings and pituitary disease. There is a wonderful website for Cushing's patients that Mary O founded: http://www.cushings-help.com/ If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to ask. Take care. You're in my prayers. Meri |
