chris, I can relate to your sons feelings about having something growing in your head that you have little or no control over. I just had the gamma knife procedure for a acoustic neruroma, and now am focusing on my pituitary tumor. I think the insomnia was has been magnified by a cold that i have right now, went 36 hrs without being able to fall asleep, but all is well now. If your son is like me it will take a while, quite a while to really come to grips with whats going on. Just keep reminding him that this is the hard time, things will hopefully get better and settle down. Its hard to adjust to a new "normal" by that i mean before the tumor was dicovered, I felt i was a "normal everyday person" it took me a bit of time to start to feel like i was just a "normal run of the mill person with a tumor" once i accepted that sometimes things just happen and delt with that my out look improved a great deal. My thoughts are with you and son ......pete |
