Thanks Minnie! I appreciate everyone's support, and I just want you to know that you do a wonderful job with this board. I am so happy I found this support; I really needed it. I just wanted to add, that even though I have an extremly large tumor, and probably going to be there at a fairly large size for the rest of my life, I think there is hope on the horizon (hopefully in my lifetime). I just saw a Dr. Lawrence Marshall, a nuerosurgeon at UC San Diego. He works with some of the top nuerosurgeons in the nation, and works extensively with doctors at Cedars-Siani and USC in Los Angeles (from what I've read, these are some of the best research institutions for pituitary disorders in the nation). He wrote a paper a few years ago, and as he stated in his paper, he feels that pituitary tumors will be solely treated with medication, and possibly erradicated in 15 years. He said that research has recently increased into our disorder because - ready for this - it is being viewed as a means of natural birth control. If they can find the agents that can regulate and stimulate the pituitary, he feels that pituitary disorders can be controlled. Any thoughts on this? Thank you again for everyon'e support, this is a wonderful, supportive community! As my mantra goes "it is what it is", and we all have to approach it in our own way. Staying as positive as we can my not cure it, but it can make a whole lot easier. |
