HI Gramafay – it does sound like you are really out
there on your own. Is there anyway
that insurance will cover a trip to a pituitary center for a complete workup? How long have you tested positive for
acromegaly. Normally people can
have the disease for years before it is correctly diagnosed. Was your MRI done with and without
contrast? If you are dealing with
doctors that are not familiar with this disease you are not getting the care
that you need.

At this point locating and removing the tumor is the only
chance you have of a cure. The
Sandostatin LAR does not get rid of the tumor. Have the doctors checked for other
locations for the tumor. I remember
reading that it can grow in different locations. If that is the case it is imperative
that they find it. If you have the
financial ability please get to a center.

This group is a great support –
and please continue to ask questions. This is a scary disease but it is
treatable.

Take care –
Chris – Ogy’s Mom
