![]() | | | I am going for my pre-op testing to my internist on Wednesday. When I went for my yearly physical in November 2004 my internist faxed me my entire bloodwork and I will ask that he do the same. (This was prior to me knowing my macro changed in size) I am 53 and I stopped taking birth control pills (they helped with my inflammatory bowel disease and my migraines) when I had a pulmonary embolism at age 50. After the birth control pills I got one period and within a year I was diagnosed with a macroadenoma about 1.6 cubed. I didn't realize until now that my tumor my be part of my menopause, but let's use menopause numbers. Prolactin 30.2 2.0-20.0 post-menopausal LH 1.4 reference range follicular 1.9-12.5 midcycle peak 8.7-76.3 luteal phase <16.9 pregnant <1.5 postmenopausal 5.0-52.3 FSH 12.3 follicular phase 2.5-10.2 midcycle peak 1.6-18.8 luteal phase 1.5-9.1 pregnant: <0.3 postmenopausal 23.0-116.3 Obviously my hormones are out of whack. I don't know what my LH and my FSH mean and my internist didn't either. My endo doctor (I will replace) only checked my thyroid, which is normal, and my prolactin which is slightly elevated.(The doctors felt because of the tumor) I was uninformed until this great webstite. I want to know my levels pre-surgery. What tests should a female my age ask for? I no longer have any underarm hair and I know that has to do with testesterone, but I don't know exactly the name of the test a woman asks for to have her levels checked. My tumor is close to a 2.0 cm cubed now and it is non-secreting. I don't know if growth hormone is important and I don't want to look like an idiot in front of my doctor but I want to have him order the right tests.(Since I have the wrong doctor specialty I think he'll need some guidance. Thanks for the input. | | |
