According to a newer article, 60% are functional tumors, 40% are non-functional. From the functional tumors, about 30% cause acromegaly, about 15% cause Cushings, 1-2% are TSH secreting tumors and the rest ( about 47%) are prolactinomas. Cat, a non-functioning tumor just means it isn't secreting hormones. It doesn't necessarily mean it hasn't caused you any problems. ![]() The pituitary is considered the master gland because it regulates so many of our body functions.
