According to a newer article, 60% are functional tumors,  40% are non-functional.
 
From the functional tumors, about 30% cause acromegaly, about 15% cause Cushings, 1-2% are TSH secreting tumors and the rest (about 47%) are prolactinomas.
 
Cat, a non-functioning tumor just means it isn't secreting hormones. It doesn't necessarily mean it hasn't caused you any problems.  The pituitary is considered the master gland because it regulates so many of our body functions.
 
I don't think some of the doctors really get it.
 
Just wanted to tell you I cared.
