On Monday, March 7th I had a 1.9 by 1.9 by 1.8 non-functioning macroadenoma removed.  I'll share some of my experiences.  I have a low pain tolerance and it was much easier than I ever thought.  The doctor (Post) did it all through one nostril so I was always able to breathe through the other one.  The nose packing in the one nostril was really not that bothersome.  It hurt when they removed it and for the next five minutes but then everyting settled done.
I had read on multiple sights how they place your head in a three prong holder for the surgery.  My head was placed in a foam pillow that had a slight indentation.  (I was nervous about the head stabilizer and there was none!)
I have read about the possible complication of di.  I had the opposite which I have never read about.  I had SIADH which means that my fluid was in my tissues and not in my bladder.  I was not catherized but that had nothing to do with it.  My sodium level, in my blood, kept dropping and that was the casue for me not producing urine.  The first line of treatment is to restrict fluids.  I could only take in 16oz. of fluids in a 24 hour period and that included my food.  (So that meant I could not drink anything.)  Everything straightened out by the third day but I wanted to share my experience in case anyone else has this problem.  This is not common but it does happen.  My mouth was so dry I asked for a humidifier and I was given air that went through water first.  I really found that helpful.  It made my one nostril much less dry as well as my mouth.  If you are having surgery you might ask for it.  I slept a million times better after I was using it.
Now that I am home I feel drained. (I did need a fat plug.  A little sore, not bad.  The incision looks about 1 1/4 inches)  I feel like my head is in a fog.  It takes more effort to think and I just feel dense.  I am not weak or dizzy.
If anyone has more specifid questions you can e-mail me at [EMAIL PROTECTED]. It was so much easier than I ever anticipated.
Post was the BEST and so was Mt. Sinai.
