Oh "THE LIST" you know... one of these days... I'll be chased out of the neuro ward by an angry nurse with a nerf gun!
OK... here goes....
Waiting is hard. I tell you though.. for surgery, you need to bring some funny houseslippers, a nice robe if you can. For the ladies, some cute jammies (at least 2 pair, maybe 3). Guys... do you really LIKE hospital issue? Bring some extra undies - or as my country hubby says... some Dewarrs (boxers)... lol.
You may want to bring some magazines where you can just look at big pictures; maybe some earplugs because if you have shared rooms, you may have a snoring kind of room mate.
You may also want to bring a little sleep mask too - nurses like to turn the overbed lights on.. Hellow, it is 2 a.m... time for a blood draw! @[EMAIL PROTECTED]
If you like music, bring your CD and a few songs. If you can't stand standard cable TV, or are afraid of having to fight over the remote, bring a portable DVD player and some DVD's!![]()
Bring about 10 bucks so if you feel like going down to the gift shop for a snapple, you'll have the money. You may get really tired of the stuff they give you to drink!
(not that! - lol)
Bring some chap stick or some ointment for your lips, a couple of pairs of socks (unless you LIKE hospital issue), a change of clothes, something to fix your hair with. Bring a small notebook to record your mindless thoughts in and even a small pad and paper to write down who the doctors are who come to see you (their names) and what they tell you.![]()
At my hospital, they recommend their patients use a saline spay the 3rd day of surgery called Ocean. No generics. I would use Ocean every day 4-8 times a day to help clear the crusting in my nose post op. My ENT said to continue using it until my follow up (8 weeks). It really helped clear my nose! Some neuros say NOTHING in the nose. Not even your little finger! The reason being is that they do icky things like skin grafts up in there, and you don't want to... well... just follow your doctors orders!
And... last but not least... a nerf gun to shoot the nurses with ![]()
Oh... my friend bought me a Tiara and a scepter too! She told me it was a "fashionable weapon to take my revenge" We got alot of laughs. It helped me feel so much better.
Hope this helps...
(I am ducking and running here). If you all like this list, you can add too it!
