Heck, I did the quiet but listening approach. I wanted to know what the doctor had to tell me. He had very uplifting news! I learned then that my neurosurgeon is an optimist! I really needed that, I think. So much tough news that I needed someone to tell me things were really looking up. I think though, the things to ask are how often do you need follow up MRI's (should be annually), and if your neurosurgeon feels he needs to personally monitor you. Some neurosurgeons do see their patients annually. Since I was an out-of-towner, my neurosurgeon turned me back to the 'guys' back home (lucky men they are - lol). He also told me that my primary care would be endocrine, and my follow up would be with my endocrinologist. I did see my endocrinologist 2 weeks later, and he did receive a follow up letter from my neurosurgeon. I suppose if you have post op worries, you need to jot them down and bring them to the appt. One of my post surgical (short term) complications was a bad case of snoring ![]() - which has resolved (finally!) and some residual numbness around my nose which is a bit bothersome. I did have some facial pain for a while, that has since resolved. Things that bother you, ask the surgeon about. That is what he is for! Oh.. and if you are up to it, take time to write a nice thank you letter. The doctor will appreciate kind words from the heart. So often we forget to thank those who make big differences in our lives. ![]() Minnie |
