I have just been diagnosed with a probably prolactinoma. I have had galactorhea for years and irregular periods. My prolactin level was in the 60's but I have had a lot less symptoms in the last 6 months. My symptoms have been present for about 7 years but I never bothered to mention them to my doctor, so it's a bit of a late diagnosis. I am booked for an MRI to confirm.
I have had other symptoms over the years that I wonder about now. I used to get really severe bouts of nausea and slight fevers. I lost about 10 pounds (down to 85) and was often very tired and had little appetite. I also would get dizzy spells. I still get dizzy from time to time and infact I was feeling unwell the other night and I took a bath and when I got out of the bath I felt very lightheaded and nauseated. I layed down but my pulse was racing at 130/min. It took three whole hours before I was able to sit up strait and my pulse slowed. Could these stymtoms be caused by the prolactinoma, can it affect other pituitary hormones?
