Geoff - I should add that my friends tumour was originally 5cm x 3 1/2 [8 years ago before his first surgery] and was 3 1/2 x 3 when Dr. Gentili got to it. Hope I'm not repeating myself but I probably am as I am posting a lot. Also, today is a week from his surgery and he is feeling "almost normal" although still napping several times a day. He nose has completely stopped dripping and bleeding [wasn't much anyway] and I can't tell you how his attitude has changed. He had one before! He says he feels calm and at peace for the first time in many many years. He is more articulate. Personally I think it is the first week of the rest of his life. I think he has had this tumour for a very long time [forever? think how slowly they grow and how big they get] and it has cost him dearly in many ways. I hope it will make what is left of his life that much sweeter! His calves were a bit sore [I think they put pressure stockings on him?] also - expect to wake up with a catheter in you [they didn't tell him this the first time and he found it pretty shocking]. He has a bit of a headache at times and a bit of a sore neck at timesand his eyes went wonky after bending down yesterday, he is on prednisone [for 30 days] and I think it causes his face to be flushed at times. He is eating about twice as much as he usually does and wakes up wondering what he should have for breakfast! We both expected much worse. I would like to know your opinion of Dr. Bain. You can email me privately at tobetty-at-yahoo.com if you don't want to broadcast your opinion. We will be thinking of you on the 10th. There are other Gentili fans on the Brain Tumour Foundation site - http://www.braintumour.ca/braintumour.nsf/eng/MessageBoard take care, eat well, get lots of exercise, you are in what we think are the best hands in the world!
