This is what I think. I think you should get a copy of your films and get a pituitary neurosurgeon to give you a written opinion on your films. You can do an outside consult for a small fee (even you can afford). You can call to see if Dr. Delashaw will do this for you at OHSU, or you can see if Dr. Mayberg will do this at Swedish Medical Center in Washington, or Dr. Weiss or Dr. Kunwar or Dr. Kelly (all in California). You may also consider Dr. McCutcheon at MDAnderson Cancer Center and also Dr. Laws at University of Virginia. This is called a patient- not- patient written consult (Dr. Laws does a wonderful written consult from what I understand). You can take this consult, and then use this as bargaining, as this is from a pituitary tumor neurosurgery expert. The top experts from this list are by far, Dr. Laws and Dr. Weiss, as they are esteemed in the world of neurosurgery. You can then appeal to your HMO for 2nd opinion at OHSU or another Pituitary Center based on this patient-not-present consult. Hope this helps. Minnie |
