We are in Toronto, Canada and had Dr. Fred Gentili who is not only a great surgeon but a wonderful kind unassuming man. Every nurse, aid, secretary and doctor had admiring comments about him. He is world renowned for his base skull surgery. Yes, he used an endoscope but I am not sure if that is "traditional" or not - I think "not". What Minnie says is exactly correct - get yourself in the "best hands" you can find. This surgery did not compare with the surgeries 8 years ago at the hands of a neurosurgeon but not a pituitary specialist. BTW I didn't mean that my friend felt ill and then got better after the tumour was removed. He says he feels "like a great load has been lifted from my mind" although he didn't know he was carrying that load until it was no longer there. These tumours grow very slowly so I would suggest you go for the best rather than the fastest unless your guy has lots and lots of experience working in that little space!
