seizures

I had seizures  - they actually started about 1 year prior to discovery of the tumor.  Even after surgery, I still thought they were some sort of anxiety attacks.  Not until they started getting really severe (I wouldn't black out, just kinda wasn't "there" for a second), my endo reccomended I go to a nuerologist.  He looked at my scans, and immediatly could see that the tumor was still pressing against my temporal lobe, causing the seizures (had an EEG, which confirmed this).  I was put on Kepra (6 tabs a day).  The Kepra controlled the seizures.  It made me tired, but it was better than the alternative!  My neurologist said that the seizures may stop, it just all depended on (a) the tumor decreasing pressure on my temporal lobe, then (b) if it did, then it all depended how much scaring the tumor had done in that area.

The good news is that the tumor is now decreased in size, so it's off my temporal lobe.  Just last week I saw my neurologist, and he said let's stop the Kepra and give it a try (actually, he wanted to taper it 1st, but I kinda have been doing this myself for about 6 months because I hadn't had any seizures - talk to your Dr though, I was taking a big risk without his knowledge!).  So far, so good, no seizures - but the nuero said that if I am going to have any more, it'll be within the next few months.  Keeping my fingers crossed.  Hope this helps.
