I've been doing alot of research the last week or so into Fibromyalgia, and not to alarm anyone, but it appears that there MAY (I have to stress 'may') be a connection between growth hormone levels (Especially low growth hormone levels, which, after pit surgery for acromegally, this is the case) and fibro. (As if we didn't have enough to worry about already with the tumors- sigh) Now, having said that, there Also seems to be a connection between the onset of Fibro AND a stressful condition on the body- Accidents seem to be a major contributing factor, however, surgeries and even convelescence seems to trigger it as well. I'm not real sure what's going on with me- no official diagnosis yet, but we're just now starting to look in the right direction I beleive. One thing that puzzles me though is the absence of any real 'trigger points' for Fibro on the body- the Doc pressed a few key points but I didn't have the pain that should have been there- other than that though, going down through the list of symptoms for Fibro is like reading my daily diary lol. I hope for your sake that what you are experiencing is not infact Fibro, and that your Doc is wrong, becasue from what I'm reading, there is no real treatment and it is a lifelong condiotion sadly. Is your Doc testing you for other rheumalogical diseases as well? Becasue these can be similiar to Fibro with the pain and symptoms. My Doc put me on pain meds and sleep meds, but honestly, about all they did was dull the pain asnd make me dopey feeling, it did nothign for the exhaustion. The pain was still there and would immediately intensify and cause me to crash badly if I tried to do anything. One of the key areas of Fibro seems to be humidity. Do you get really bad when it's humid out? Do you just feel like a truck has run over you? & is the pain worse? Another key area is what they call 'fibro-fog' A feeling of being very overtired mentally and not being able to concentrate, having difficulty staying forcused, and having to stop to think of common everyday words when you're speaking or typing- it feels like your mind is sloshing through thick mud & common tasks such as reading or typing become difficult. There are also some other key areas to be on the look-out for- if you want to know more or think you might have it, let me know & I can relay some more info. I have a checklist for Fibro if you want it to print out and check the symptoms off (Along with the severity levels) so you can take to your Doc (It's alot easier than trying to explain everythign to them in person not knowing what is involved really) |
