Hi,
I was just recently diagnosed with a pit tumor but I am not even sure what kind - it started with headaches vision trouble and milk (that was new! especially since my baby is 15 and I no longer have an uterus!) anyway first prolactin test was 39 slightly elevated but not alot-
Since then I have learned that my 1st cortisol test done at 8:25 am was 1  and the second that they sent through mayo clinic was    .9  (yes point 9) done at 7.45 am
my atch is low (<5)  my growth hormone is at 56  (normal is 101-256)  they have me on hydrocortisone 60mg    40 am 20 pm   they started me on diosinex?  1 pill a week to stop prolactin ( it had only risen to 46 by the second set of tests though) they have me on pain meds because well  there is pain! and they started me on an antidepressent because they say that hydrocortisone replacement  causes depression- my endo doc says no growth hormone replacement because he doesn't want to fight with the insurance comp and according to him you don't really need it?
and for the last four or five days I have been having panic attacks at least thats what I think they are - and I think one of the new meds is  causing them- my heart beats so hard and my chest gets tight and my hands go numb and i get sick feeling so I called the doc and said what pill is doing this and can I stop it ?  and she said (of course) we have a pill for that!   so now xanax ( which I HATE) my tumor is on the left side and just a little one 5.7 x4.6  my endo said that it is up to my primary care doc and I if I want to go to rochester and have it removed but that it might not do any good - my primary care doc says there is no choice it has to come out I cannot stay on high replacement doses forever - all I know is I feel like total crap.  my skin crawls i have gained 20 lbs my muscles burn and to top it off they tell me to watch out for bone pain in my hips and I already have a bone cyst on my right hip ( head start I guess) here is the thing - I am usually and upbeat kinda gal but not so much lately - I knew something was wrong i couldn't get out of bed for weeks and when the doc got my results on the cortisol he had me come in on a sat morn and told me when i left to go to the pharmacy and then to bed (something about sick day rules for a week?) any way I know I am rambling my short term memory is shot ( I say hormones doc says exhaustion) any advice would be so very greatly appreciated - my husband is doing satalite work in LA and then to florida been gone three weeks and not returning until the end of nov (darn hurricanes)  and my teenagers are trying but ... hey maybe thats why I am having panic attacks!!!  anyway = thanks in advance for any and all suggestions -   marj.
