I have Rheumatoid arthritis and was on Remicade for several years until it stopped working. I am now on Humira. Both of these drugs are biological agents that affect TNF (Tumor necrotizing factor) which is a component of the body's inflmmatory response. In the case of RA ,the inflammatory response is overactive and attacking the patient's joints/lining. My rheumatologist has not mentioned anything about it being contraindicated if you have had a pituitary tumor. He is well aware of the fact that I had a tumor. Of course, my tumor was removed though I still have some tumor cells present as determined by my elevated IGF-1 levels. Humira gives me significant relief and I can't imagine going without it.
