Yikes! I have acromegaly and my endocrinologist wants me to change from sandostatin LAR to Somavert!!!! My IGF-1 is still too high and I have experienced considerable hair loss. The problem is that I have always had problems with needles. I mean I have trouble having someone else give me an injection let alone giving myself an injection. I did see a pyschologist about the issue and she was very helpful  - I no longer totally freak out when someone else gives me an injection. I plan to return to her for more help but would like to hear any words of wisdom that the group may have.

MEN1 update. I saw my endo Friday and managed to have a wonderful hypoglycemic (?) episode right in the office - have not gotten the result of the blood work that they did. Even before that the endo had decided to check out the hyperparathyroid issue and states that he is leaning toward a MEN1 diagnosis even though the genetic testing came back negative. They are scheduling a scan, then I will probably have to have surgery. Yuck!!
