Hi TallSari, I was diagnosed with PCOS three years ago. I have a lot of problems with ovarian cysts and most likely, endometriosis. I do not have the usual "string of pearls" in the ovaries. I have numerous large cysts that burst constantly. I am having a laparoscopy a week from Thursday. I have the insulin resistance/pre-diabetes and several other conditions associated with PCOS. I have the usual hirsutism and acne to deal with. I tried the metformin, but could not tolerate it. I was told to avoid BCP when I was testing for Cushing's. BCPs can interfere with testing for Cushing's. If you are testing for Cushing's, you may want to avoid taking BCPs. Here is a new book that looks interesting: It looks like several books on PCOS have been published in the past couple of years. A website I would recommend for support is Kat's community at http://www.soulcysters.net/ I joined this community when I was first diagnosed and I learned a lot from other patients. Kat is great, you will really like her. I have also heard her speak at PCOS Conferences. If you have any questions for me, please feel free to ask. I do not have a normal case of PCOS, however. I was also diagnosed with Cushing's disease and I have several other hormonal/reproductive problems. You may want to consult a reproductive endo-they are much more specialized in PCOS and reproductive problems. Take care. You're in my prayers. Meri |
