I have been diagnosed with a microadenoma about 4 cm….my prolactin is actually not high compared to some people…it was 44 last week and now this week is 50. I had a hysterectomy in December and was not feeling well yet after March so I went back to my Dr. because I was basically freaking out over everything (my estrogen had bottomed out even after keeping an ovary). To be safe, she ran FSH which was also low….which made her run my prolactin….which was elevated a little…..she sent me for an MRI and they found the microadenoma. I am tired, irritable, mean, nauseous, headachy, body achy, have a pain in my side, middle weight gain and just in general, feel miserable.

I went to an Endo two days ago who basically told me it was a waste of my time coming there because my prolactin level was not high enough and before my hysterectomy, I had also had really heavy cycles (not absent). She told me I need to go back to my GYN because my hormones were just not high enough and try an antidepressant (which I have been on for four weeks anyhow)…..she also decided to run T3, T4 and TSH and my prolactin again….

The next day she called me and said that my prolactin had rose to above 50 and that she was putting me on dostinex….I am welcome to any help that will make me feel better but I am really confused about this situation because I really don’t fit the “prolactinoma” criteria…..is anyone else like this…….
