Bad listed doctors are kept - You can find them by first writing your state medical board. You can also check out the DA's office in the county/parish where your doctor practices to see if any lawsuits have been filed. ![]() We have several links in our Section that will help you research a doctor. I am uncomfortable keeping a "bad list" of doctors here at Pituitary Chat. This list would be primarily based subjective opinions from a limited patient population. Limited? Well - I look at it like this. At my institution, my neurosurgeon does about 75 pituitary neurosurgical cases a year. This last year, only one patient posted on the board. If that patient had a bad thing to say, then that person unfairly becomes the voice for 74 others, who may have had excellent experiences. Same issue with my endo. I think that it is more helpful is to keep a "helpful list" of helpful doctors that have helped us and are recognized in their field as experts. Not every helpful doctor fits every person - it can be a personality thing, the atmosphere, how the wind blows, etc... but the idea is to point the lost in the general direction so they can get help.
The big problem with negative subjective opinions posted on a public forum is that the poster could be accused of liable, slander, and even loss of business by the doctor they posted about. I do know of a particular doctor who did file a slander lawsuit on one of his patients for what the patient posted in an on-line forum. ![]() Don't get me wrong - I don't have any problems with someone sharing their negative experiences (after all, this is a support board), but when it gets to particular doctor naming and finger pointing, some things are better said off the board. Use the phone, chat in active chat, and e-mail each other. If you have really bad things to say though, beware of e-mail as e-mail can be copied, forwarded, etc. Hope this helps... Minnie ![]() |
