I worked while being sick. I did not get a diagnosis until well into my acromegaly. I had alot of issues but the most debilitating were the muscle, joint pains and continuous unrelenting headaches. I could hardly move around. I don't really know how I kept my job but I had to many responsibilities to have ever considered quitting. I do have a very good hospital-laboratory job. I had alot of seniority vested and was not about to quit. I was diagnosed (wonderfull feeling to then know what was wrong with me), had tumor resection (2.9cm). Have been acro-free since Oct 2002. I do have knees that are shot but I try to work around it. I use a cane when absolutely necessary and an electric cart at the large stores. I also use handicapped parking permit. After reading this posting it sounds like I'm an old woman but actually I'm only 49yrs. All in all, life is better now. Good luck to all. Gloria |
